CIVIL/ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Hive is going through a period of sustained growth and are currently seeking a full‐time Civil/Environmental Technologist to join our team in Moncton, New Brunswick.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will consist predominantly of field work in support of environmental projects in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The following is a list of anticipated day‐to‐day tasks for this position:

  • null
    Completing field activities in support of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) including but not limited to site visits, soil and groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sampling and soil vapour/indoor air sampling;
  • null
    Completing field programs in support of designated substances/hazardous materials assessments;
  • null
    Overseeing soil and groundwater remediation projects;
  • null
    Overseeing hazardous material abatement projects;
  • null
    Completing air sampling programs for mould and asbestos fibers;
  • null
    Coordinating with laboratories, clients, contractors, subcontractors and third‐party stakeholders as required to facilitate successful completion of our projects;
  • null
    Compile and analyze data including: site photographs, field notes, data tables, and borehole/test pit logs; and,
  • null
    Assist in report writing and preparation of technical documents.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • null
    A degree or diploma in civil or environmental technology from an accredited college;
  • null
    Registered or eligible to register as a Certified Engineering Technician or Professional Technologist;
  • null
    A minimum of one year of experience working in the engineering consulting industry;
  • null
    Valid driver’s license, insurance and vehicle for travel to / from project sites.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products.

    Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;

This position will require travel within Atlantic Canada for project‐related work. The position will also require work in adverse conditions (i.e. weather, terrain, etc.) and will require overtime hours (compensated) on an as‐needed basis to facilitate project work.

INTERMEDIATE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER OR GEOSCIENTIST

Given our recent sustained increase in workload, Hive is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist to assist our staff in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, preferably operating out of Moncton, Fredericton or Halifax.

Our ideal candidate will have the following technical qualifications:

    A degree in engineering (civil, geological or environmental) or geoscience from a Canadian-accredited university;

    Minimum of five years of experience in engineering consulting in Atlantic Canada;

    Registered or able to register as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia;
  • null
    Strong technical knowledge of environmental regulations and guidelines in the Atlantic Canadian provinces.
